Overview

The National Certificate: Architectural Technology NQF5 provides an introduction into the architectural profession and its role within the Building Industry.  The learner is provided with the Draughting skills, competencies and academic knowledge required to practice in the Built Environment as a "Candidate Architectural Draughtsperson" and after a period of supervised practical experience and / or other requirements as specified by the professional registration body, as an "Architectural Draughtsperson”.

Included in the full time fees are a total of 4 weeks practical, spread out over the 12 months. Practical is done onsite at our campus and will cover Quantity Survey, Building, Plumbing, Wiring.

  • Grade 12 (Competency in the english language & mathematical litteracy) OR
  • NQF4 Drawing Office Practice OR
  • N4/5 Multi Disciplinary Draughting National Certificate, MDDOP (READ MORE>) OR

Articulation Options

On successfull completion of this qualification, you can articulate into the following:

 

  • Direct access into the National Diploma: Architectural Technology NQF6 at second year level. 
  • Access to Bachelor of Architectural Studies with credit for subjects completed, subject to institutional discretionary requirements having been met. 

Assessment

  • Continual Integrated Formative Assessment: As you finish your modules you will be assessed continuously in the form of practical exercises.
  • Portfolio of Evidence: You will be required to build up a portfolio of evidence as proof that you can perform certain task in practise. This will be done in a “simulated work environment”.
  • External assessments by an accredited assessor and internal moderation with CETA verification.

    • 12 months, 120 credits (10 Sessions/Week, 2:00 Hrs Each) *Sessions will be grouped together to lower cost of traveling, however, in some cases classes may not follow this convention and schedules are subject to change.
    • All credits are achieved via your study duration at the academy.

     

    Correspondence & Part Time (LEARN MORE >)

    • 12 months, 120 credits. 
    • Credits are obtained through a combination of live virtual classes, pre-recorded video lectures and project based tasks.
    • Part Time classes will run twice each week for 3 hours.
